--In that order. You normally keep it on "auto" to keep drl on.
...so you would twist it back one instead of forward to turn drl off

You're in the US, so im assuming you didnt import your car from Canada. You can turn off the DRL's just by turning it to the off position. I believe on the Gen6 it's something like: Off - DRL - Auto - On, but im not sure if just DRL is an option, it may just be Off-Auto-On.
Just bought a new US 2008 Camry hybrid, and need to disable disabling the DRLs to make it legal for Canadian registration. Has anyone crossed this bridge before and be willing to share the secret?
I thought daytime running lights were mandatory in Canada? I live in Montreal and every single car that comes off the lot have daytime running lights with no factory option to disable them. I've seen a couple different ways of disabling them though, some cars its a relay you need to pull out somewhere (VWs)other cars its fuses under the hood or under the dash, either way your going to have to search for them because it changes from car to car.
^ He imported one from the US. I don't know the Canadian laws, but is there one which states the driver does not have the ability to disable the DRL's, or is it just a law to use them at all times.
I believe the law is that the car must be equipped with daytime running lights to meet the "safety requirements" issued by the governments department of motor vehicles. Its the SAAQ in quebec, Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec. It could just be Quebec law but I was under the impression that it was all of Canada. To have to have them disabled to pass the inspection doesnt make much sense though, there supposed to be a safety enhancement. From what I know if the car happens to have been manufactured and sold in Canada before the law this doesnt apply (like no cats on cars of the 60-70s type deal) but if the car is within the years of manufacturing where the law was put in place and the car was sold in Canada they have to be equipped with them. A guy I know moved here from the States and he had a 95 BMW, he had to install after market DRLs to pass the safety inspection.
O.F.Fascist try looking in the fusebox under the hood, I'm almost sure there are some fuses there that have to do with the headlamps, you can't damage anything by pulling them out to see the result. I know VW has relays hidden behind the instrument cluster and there a pain to remove, but Toyota I have a feeling are under the hood. I also had a 91 camry which had a box that I assumed to be the DRL relay box right underneath the parking brake, never tried it to see if it worked though, it was a parts car. Good luck
I think the logic for the drl in camry gen 6 is stupid. DRL off, auto, on. Now, if I want to turn my light on, i have to turn it to auto first, which the whole thing will be on already at night, so what's the on for???? they should have leave it at DRL off, on, auto. Now when I need to turn the light on, i just turn it to on, or if I feel lazy, then I will just leave it at auto all the time, so I don't have to turn on, off....

I agree. If it's dark out I just turn it to "on" so they don't turn off if I hit a bright spot or if I'm under a bright light for a few seconds.
What I don't like about it is that when I turn my lights on or off, they turn on for a split second when it's on "auto", then turns off, then turns back on when it's set to "on".
