Exclamation Thank You, Toyota

A 1998 Toyota Camry saved the life of a very special child and his father today.

This photo fills me with different types of emotions. Though destroyed, this is it's most shining moment.

This shows the damage from being hit in the front side and gives a glance at the extensive damage to the rear.

This is where he was sitting. Though the damage does not show accurately the hell they went through as the car was hit over and over.

It was sitting still, the car never touched the brakes. It just plowed into it. I have all day -- just how scary it must have been for him.

I have an 03 AV6 right now (I am not impressed) and an 00 Solara (very impressed) -- but I will be owning Toyotas only from now on.

Just goes to show how reliable Toyotas are. Unlike light sports car that are virtual death traps and can get crushed like coke cans, Toyotas (in this case, a Camry) are built to last (just ask my '91 Camry ). It's sad that the Camry took the hits, but hey, it gave it's life to save others, so by the same token, it's good to see that it was able to withstand several hits and cause minimal injury.

Wow it's got hit in every corner.

Glad you and your child is safe.

And you definitely can't go wrong with Toyota in terms of safety.

Wasn't me driving... Family friends.

Anyway, the Camry was sitting still at an intersection. A woman, speeding and on the phone, never slowed down. It knocked the Camry into traffic, where it was hit again and again. The airbags would have been of no use, so they didn't deploy. The driver hit his knee on the dash, but the child was completely unhurt (Thank God!)

A bunch of people who love this kid have composed a thank you letter to Toyota. I left my name, address, and phone number in the letter just saying "Toyota -- you saved my angel today, Thank you!". The letter was actually pretty long, though.

I will be buying Toyota Camry's from here on out.

glad to see that the camry did what it was supposed to in an accident... by the way, looks like it was very nice looking before the accident

Yes, there are cars as safe-but..

Since I have an 03 Accord V6, I posted this story on V6performance.net.

I got the usual "Glad everyone's okay" but one post struck me funny. "Your car is just as safe."

My Accord EX-V6, yes, is just as safe. However, when the Camry above was purchased it carried a final price of $13,000 used.

This got fog lights (not on Accord), auto-dimming mirror (not on Accord), a power seat, moonroof, spoiler (not on Accord), seat-belt force limiters (dunno if those are on Accord), and six factory speakers that actually sound good.

For 2x that, I got my AV6. A V6, alloys, and side-curtain airbags, and leather seats. Sure it was new, but from what I've experienced, it's not a better car even though the Camry had 101,000 miles.
