anyone ever take their stock 5s le cams the the track?
have any of you guys ran your stock camry 4cyl at the track? i want to see how i'm doing against other camrys with the same engine. i believe that the stock i4 usually runs in the low 18's but i'm not quite sure. so if anyone has run there car or knows what stock does please let me know thanks.
I've tracked my 4cyl. It performs okay, but no great shakes. It is a pretty heavy car after all, and the motor is only rated for like 135 horse at the crank. Still, it's pretty fun for all that. You'd be surprised how far you can push it, as long as you don't freak out
I've taken my Camry to the track. And we don't run LOW 18's more like mid 17's. I have a Gen 3.5, I-4 in Manual. And I was running 17.5's. That's with just a short ram intake on a hot ass day. I just recently put on dual exhausts, and 18"s in the back and I'm gunna take my shit to the track again August 6th. Hopefully I'll come back with some better time slips. BUt i'm pretty sure I won't since my 18"s are hella heavy and the dual exhausts are just adding more weight. :p

Sorry, I guess I didn't fully read your original post and took "track" to mean oval or autox or something like that.
I've only run in autocross and recently rallycross. Never taken it to a quarter track. People here say stock 4cyl is like 17s in the 1/4, though.
As for my car, I've got a stick. No mods whatsoever. My goal isn't competition, it's just having fun and being a better driver. Speaking of, I can tell you this: yesterday I was doing 80mph in a barricaded construction zone with lots of switch backs and during heavy traffic, and I have to say that if I hadn't gained some skills from autocross, a couple times there I would've gotten creamed by the semis who were doing 90 (Crazy Minnesotans for you, I guess).
Also, I say more power to ya if you take your car to the track. I'm increasingly of the opinion that you shouldn't let the size of your engine deter you from running your car on a track. Now, if you're in it to wave your schlong around with low numbers, you're in for a beatdown; but if you're doing it for fun and experience, go for it!
riceburner you are in a different boat then most of us. most of us have autos in our cars. most autos i believe are in the low 18's. right now i run a slow 17.396 at 77.95 with a 2.496 60' time. if i had a stick and could get my revs higher and would be able to cut a 2.2 60' time or lower i'd be in the high 16's.
for those of you that dont know drag racing too well, if you cut a .1 off of your 60' time that gives you around a .2 at the top end of the track. so if i cut off .3 at the beginning i gain .6 at the end and finish with a 16.796. only if i had a stick but aith the auto i can bracket race and i know my times will be consistant.

lol , true dat true dat. With my 3S-FE, the only other stuff I'd race is against other Camrys.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not exactly dissing the Camrys and them being slow or anything. In fact, I'd think it kick ass to have Camry races. But pitting a stock Camry against a Supra with a 2JZ-GTE in it is just retarded.
BTW, anyone here got any 1/4 mile times for a 3S-GTE engine, or vids of a car with this engine in it in action?
