hard to replace wheel studs?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how difficult it would be for a pretty adept do-it-yourselfer to swap out a stripped wheel stud. I have access to most common tools, but no air tools.

The rim shop that mounted my rims overtorqued the lugnuts (waaaaay past 150 lb-ft) and stripped it out.

Parts only cost like $2 at Autozone....
This is on a 99 w/ rear drums.

Thanks for the input.

I replaced the wheel studs on my 99 Camry and it was really easy. Toyota makes a little slot so you can remove the studs one at a time without removing the hub. All i used was a small hammer to knock them out the back. Try to use anti-seize on the threads as well, it helps keep the lug nuts in good shape.

Thanks for the responses, I ended up taking it to a shop because they can do it a lot faster than I can.

Now, if only I could get the rim shop to admit they were the ones who messed it up in the first place...
