3rd Generation Alternator/ Waterpump Dying Symption

Hey guys,

Noises coming from alternator/waterpump area of my 96 Camry 4 banger are getting louder everyday. Is it a sign of either one is dying? any method to pinpoint which one is causing the noise? Appreciated any input, thanks

any sorts of grinding noises?

as well, the waterpump often starts to leak coolant when it's reaching its end

Use a length of hose as a stethoscope and try to narrow down the area. You can remove the belt off the alternator pulley to confirm if this is the noise area.

Get some silicone spray, or armor all. Spray a good long squirt on ONE belt then start the engine. If noise changes, you've found the bad part. If not, try the next belt and the next etc.

Also there's a possibility it could be the timing belt making noise from a bad idler pulley or something.
