Door Handle Rod Problem

So my exterior door handle is no longer working on my 98. I took off the door panel to find that the rod that conects the door handle to the latch had come off. So I put it back on to realize that whatever is supposed to keep it there, im guessing a plastic thingy is broken and gone. So I tried to liquid weld the 2 pieces back toghether, but as soon as I used the door again the weld just snapped.
Attached is pictures of the problem. So I just dont know what to do about the problem. Any advice is welcomed.

go take a look around your local junkyard and see if you can pilfer any parts

otherwise, you can also try the dealership....not sure if they'll sell small individual pieces like that though

I've mentioned it before around here I think, but Northlandfasteners.com has what you need. I did the exact same thing on my 99 cam and it is actually a little plastic arm that clips on to the metal rod and snaps onto the ball on the end.

http://northlandfasteners.biz/Store/...oducts_id=2410

That is for the driver's side (I Believe). 6 bucks + shipping (which if I recall was like 16 bucks... ) but they delivered three (3) of the clips (just incase I guess) and they arrived in like two days.

I probably had the exact same issue. I slammed my door two hard and when I went to get back into my car, the outside handle wouldn't work. I tried everything I could think of (zip ties, superglue, etc... and couldn't get anything to work. After I got the clips it was easy sailing.

Delay_FTB,

I'm saving that Northland Fasteners website for future reference. Thanks.

never mind. It appears the trick is to remove the door handle(which sucks, the third bolt is rather hard to attach. Then set the clip into its hole. Then put it all back, push the rod into the clip really hard, so that you can rotate the 2nd part down and it clips on. and boom your done.

Yeah, removing the outer handle is the key. Glad to hear you got everything working though!
