Projector Foglights + HIDs?

I havent seen anything on this question yet so hence its here now :p.

I am thinking of getting some projector fog lights and getting a hid kit to run them. Something like this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/UNIVERSAL-P1S-CL...QQcmdZViewItem

Now i don't know if i should do this. Is there a cutoff plate inside these that allow for the use of hids in these projectors. I know how much glare that can come out of normal halogen housings coz i see them all the time over here. I've also done my own retrofits for my actual headlights with rx330 projectors.

So do you think its a good idea or should i get a set of actual projectors and retro fit it to be my foggies?

Just a pic :p

So no-one knows if it would work ? I'm hoping it will coz i'll be heaps cheaper than getting real projectors from a car.

I had similar projector style foglights installed on my old car, but they are not like ones you find in traditional headlights. They don't have a cutoff shield, and unlike oem projectors, they arent designed with that bluish look when viewed at certain angles.

This was my reply in another similar thread but also seems to apply here:

^If you are going to install HID into the foglight area, you should definitely retrofit HID projectors. If not, you are going to produce major glare. IMO, it is a pretty cool idea but it is an adequate amount of work with no real payoff. Halogen foglights arguably work just as good or better. You will notice that no cars come from the factory with HID foglights.

At one point in time, I started working on retrofitting my fogs (even though it was with halogen projectors). I failed miserably and wasted a nice little chunk of money. I ended up buying Nokya yellow bulbs and I am happy now.

Also if you install yellow HID foglights (which is the way to go or it is completely functionless), your foglights will drown out your headlights completely when they are on.

I'm in the process of putting mini projectors into my fog lights... I've actually been in the process for about half a year now... er... more like for the first month or so, and then I took a long hiatus haha... but I'll probably get around to finishing the project as soon as my summer classes end in a few weeks. But like thapranksta said, putting HIDs in will probably yield equal or worse results than just having halogen, so I'm going to keep my projectors halogen. I'm just gonna get some nice yellow H3 bulbs.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Just retrofit a projector to your existing foggies. I dont know what projector would fit though but then I think it would be better to retorit.

^Really, only the Bosch Mini-H3 projectors would fit. And even then, on a fog lamp thats as good sized as the Gen 5 fogs, I had a really tough time getting them to fit. Had to get real' creative with it. But how I did it is definitely a secret that will be undisclosed.
