I justt bought 2003 Camry SEV6, with 5000 mi, in U.S. but originally from Canada. It was manufactured, as I believe all Canadian Camrys are, in Japan. There is no Owner's Manual and was no sticker, and tracing a VIN to find any options it came with has been fruitless.
How woudl I tell if the V6 engine is VVT-i or non VVT-i. Or what the model number might signify in terms of options that came with the car: Model MCV-30L AEPSKA
Pop open the hood and it should say right on the valve cover if it has vvti or not.
Why were all the stickers removed?? Weren't you kinda suspicious? There should be one on the driver's side door jam, you can find the manufacturer date. I believe anything after the end of January 2003 should have vvti (not sure, but it's in another thread...just do a search).
It has no VVT-i markings, so it is the older V6. Are you aware of any huge loss in not having the VVT?
Getting info on a Canadian Toyota is difficult. Toyota US has no data on specific cars, nor does Toyota Canada have such specific info available from VIN.
Surley there must be some stickers under the hood in the glovebox or on the door posts??
If not, you are probably driving a stolen car.

Thanks for your concern. No, it's not stolen: the first thing I did was check the car out thru Carfax and it's fine, plus it has all the stickers, VIN, ENGINE etc. it's just that even with that info finding speciifcs on the car (as opposed to the model) has been very difficult. Like I said, US Toyota stictly has info on US cars and Canada has no specific info on any car's original option package. They will give you info on the first dealer that had the car. That dealer did not know the car had the older V6, so I don't give too much credence to the scant info he did have.
The VIN is JTDBF32K130094076 Model code MCV-30L- AEPSKA, manufactured I believe 8/02.
The car is gerat, but the lack of info, and horrors over trying to recover spare Transponder Keys (the dealer announced after sale they coudn't find them; I bought 2 and had them coded at $70 per, because losing the sole key entails a $1500 installation of new computer on the car. I also tracked the original spares, Owners Manual, and spare Remote, to the car's importer, who claimed he had mailed them, or his assistant had, but his assistant was on vacation etc., etc., etc., and, upon being asked to trace the mailing told me "I don't give a fuck about your keys, search for them yourself!".)
So , no fun on these accounts. I'm "dealing" with the dealer and the importer apparently can do what he likes with cars' transponder keys, while having access to any car passing thru his hands via the VIN. I really don't like this - and he's fairly close by -
Sorry for all this but it has been a tremendous hassle, and thanks for any info on the car anyone can get.

It's a regular old V6. Apparently "VVT" is lettered on the engine cover if otherwise. That's OK - it's a great engine even if "old".
Thanks all for the help on piining down the options. Mine is the basic SE. Again, it's fine. Love the car.
