hehehe i had the same idea of cracking open the tails and painting the amber part. only noticed that the tails were made with two lenses while washing my car. can you explain how you opened up the tails, and sealed them up?
so what part did you actually paint? inside, outside :???:
If you did in fact take the lense apart, could you tell us how you went about it. Thanx
The amber lens was painted from the inside...this way, when the bulb lights up, I can see if I painted the lens red enough to avoid an orangish turn signal light.
Here's a tip that I have kept in mind before painting the actual lens -- remember that painting the lens is a ONE TIME THING...you can't go back if you painted the lens too dark...if you went ahead and remove the lens paint with paint thinner, it will fog and blur up the lens, and even if you paint over it, it will look opague! Be careful! What I have done is used a clear 3M crystal clear tape to tape the lens surface that I am going to paint. That means I can rip out the tape if I painted the lens too dark, and it will give me a second chance. Also, the tape doesn't affect anything...it's simply a clear tape, you won't notice a difference
It's not really hard resealing the lens...I actually used a glue gun and sqpeezed some glue before reasembling (after heating the existing tar-glue)...since the glue sticks used by the glue gun also melts and softens when heated up, it created a very good seal to prevent condensation. But be careful with the edges of the lens because it is exposed; unlike some headlights which the edges are covered up by body panels. SO if you over heat the edges, it will show up!
BTW, that is a 5zigen muffler...forgot the model though...lol
The photoshopped picture looks unique (the shaved Camry word), but I am not a fan of dark coloured tailights (reminds me of tints...yuck!)

U know what I did? I changed the back signal light bulbs to red, then when they r flashing, its just like what u did, but its not very clear at day time!
I have a question for u, my Camry is the same year as u. And I want to paint the corner light lens (not the bumber lens) to orange, just like the Mark II and Chaser in Japan. Do u know where can I buy the paint or can u do it for me?
Hey Tony,
How did you heat the lens? oven, heat gun...?
Most just paint the outside, what made you go through the hassel of taking appart the lamp?
How many coats of red did you end up using?
Looks tight!!

You know, I tried to post a picture and i f&*#ing hate Geocities and Angelfire.... I would really like to kill those people. Anyway, I work with Photoshop too, and I just decided to add a blue under tone to it... looked pretty damn good. Guess Ill just have to make a site all about Camry's. . . o well.
