if you undo the bottom of the strut from the steering knuckle and if you tug on it in different directions you can see that the plate on top that holds them flexes a good bit

so if you tie them both together with a rigid bar, you spread the load to the other side

as for tha air filters, when you take the air flow meter from the stock air box, you'll notice that its square, all aftermarket filters are round, so you need an adaptor plate

Has anyone noticed any differences in handling from one of these? Particularly on a gen3?

I just bought a bar for my '87, crappy all season Bridgestone Insignias (hey, they were free!) aside this thing gets pretty sloppy in fast sweepers and such. I figured it couldnt hurt to try one. When it gets here and I throw it on, I'll go for a drive, and tell you what I thought of it. The way I see it (I got mine on Ebay), even if it doesnt quite live up to expectation it's not that big a waste of $$.

Just looked at the Ebay link- That's the exact same one I bought!

hey I got the same 87 5 speed as you and I got my strut bar 2 weeks ago. BIG DIFFERENCE.! I have 17s though but it feels way tighter on turns and even passing feels safer. You'll be happy.
