My "Maintenance Required" light came on tonight, right after my car hit 5,000 miles. I am assuming that I need the oil change. Question is.... Does my Toyota service station turn off this maintenance required light or can I take it to any Jiffy Lube and the light will go off? Please advise, as I am a helpless noob! HAHAHA!
Set the meter to odometer. Turn the car off. Hold the button down and then turn the key to on and hold it until it displays some weird thing on the display. The only time I did it, it reset my trip meters too though.
In the future, use the search button. This issue has come up numerous times and the question has been answered numerous times.
For the 07 Camry it comes on every 5000 miles after being reset.
The procedure for resetting it is in the owner's manual. For my 07 XLE model you set the odometer/tripmeter to trip 1. Then shut off the car. Next hold down the trip reset button while you turn the key back on to the accessory position. Continue to hold it down. On the XLE model you will see a horizontal bar in the center of the display go from the left side to the right side. It takes about 5 seconds for the bar to move completely from the left to the right. Then you are done. The light goes off and will stay off for another 5000 miles.

And please stay away from Jiffy Lube and JL clones! There are countless horror stories about botched jobs due to inexperienced, overworked, hurried staff at these places. It's best to use a good local mechanic you know and trust, or take it to the dealer.
Or you could do it yourself like a customer I had the other day. Comes in for an Oil Change ($26) and Rotation ($18). Decided he wanted to save some money on his 07 with 5,000 miles on it and change the oil himself. Asked him if he knew how and he said he'd figure it out on his own. This morning his wife calls me, telling me the car won't move and if I would accept a tow in. The car came in with 0 quarts of transmission fluid, 4 qts of extra motor oil in the engine and a CEL. $360 later, the oil change is done, the transmission has been flushed and refilled and the CEL has been turned off. I think I'll be seeing that car for regular oil changes going forward.
