Funky rubber thing in my bumper

I was washing my car the other day and happened to notice this strange rubber thing with some kind of cable running out of it placed in the lower vent area of my front bumper. I didn't mess with it cause I didn't know if it was the airbag sensor or the thermometer for my dash. Anyone know what it might be? Haynes manual has no info I can find. It's got a squishy, round rubber end attached to a cylindrical rubber/plastic body, with a cable or wire coming out the back (towards the engine).

Sorry, I don't have a picture of it, but the pic below is the approximate location of this strange device. Anyone know?

Alright, this is the thing I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure that it's not the airbag sensor, cause it seems a poor placement for it. I mean, a rock could just fly up and hit that thing. I'm 90% positive it's for the dash thermometer. Anyone know?

i'd put my money on dash thermometer... toyota would never put an airbag senser out i nthe open like that

if it were the air bag sensor, it could go off any minute while driving...



imagine driving down the freeway, crusing at 50 when your air bag suddenly goes off...

yeah are you saying that to me? cause i realized that.. i mean.. hitting a bird could set it off if it was the ABS sensor

The airbag sensor is either behind/beside/in front of the re-bar, inside the bumper. :p
