need a new fob...

We have a 91 with a factory alarm/keyless entry. the fob was broke and we couldnt keep it on a key ring. it finally got lost so now we are driving around with it in valet.

the ? i have is, can i buy a newer fob (on ebay for example) and reprogram it or the alarm to work?

or does it have to be done by the dealer (they say it'll be $75 to reporgram it plus i have to buy the fob from them.)

I lost all but 1 programmable key and fob for my new 2003 Camry. They wanted $40 for the key + $50 programming and like $200 for the fob + $50 programming.

I bought the key from Toyota and programmed it myself with some instructions from the web. As well, I bought a couple of fobs for like $6.95 on ebay, and programmed it myself...also found the instructions on the web.

What I'm saying is that I'm 90% sure you can do it yourself as long as you have the instructions. Do a search on the web using google for programming Toyota keys.

Possibly, as long as it is reprogramable, witch is should be, do a search for the actual programming tho, it normally consists of holding a button and pressing some other buttons and little simple shit like that!

I'm pretty sure it won't. I guess you have no idea what the code is at the back of your lost fob eh?

Try searching for the programming instructions first...and see if they say the serial ID's on that...and then maybe you could buy a new one from ebay and try that out.

yep i have the same problem, my 92 factory alarm.
i have the remote but the part where the key ring goes on broke. so i tried looking for a replacement remote on Ebay, and no luck. i have found other ones that the dealer told me WILL work, but i tried and tried and i cannot get them to prgram into the system. only my remote will program to it. i have instructions on how to do it and i have tried 2 diffrent remotes other than the original and no luck.

if you get any luck, please enlighten me with your find, i would really appriciate it.
thanx
