Question K&N Filter Cleaning

Hey everyone,
It's time for me to clean and re-oil my K&N filter. Anyway, I've never done it before, and I was wondering if the stuff that gets washed out the filter, i.e. the dirt and residual oil element, is dangerous. You know how you can't just dump motor oil. I was wondering if this required special handling like motor oil, or can I wash it out in the driveway? Also is this stuff going to turn the driveway pink?

Hmmm...never really thought about it being harmful as putting coolant down down the drain. I wash mine inside a commercial sink we have. I dont think there would be any problems. Also dont let any of the oil hit your drive way or anything you dont want stained. That stuff stains for months! I get TONS of newspaper and laid it down on the floor when I started oiling.

K&N air filters are proven to not only filter less, but also let less air get into the engine or wherever.... stick with a normal air filter. Not like your Camry is really going for performance anyway.

Here is the only real world unbiased test I have heard of.

Make your own conclusions.

Thanks for the site. Answered some of my questions regarding
filtered air vs. Air Flow.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
