Emergency Need advice!!!

ok so most of you should be familiar to a engine and transaxle assembly... What is that circular plate called that goes between the rim of the engine and the transaxle? its like a thin metal gasket looking thing thats usually thin black metal. Im asking because i need the technical name for it. I went to toyota today and they couldnt even find it on the parts index. Im hoping somebody out there knows the "offical toyota name" for the part. Thanks guys!

Those are the engine pics i guess the plate mounts on the engine... The first pic is a '98 5sfe and the second pic is a '05 3mzfe. "its purpose as far is a know is to keep outside dirt from coming in ? maybe that and to prevent crap from getting into the starter? your guess is as good as mine...I starting to wonder if i really even need it?

Think it is basically a dust cover. But that's really what it's called in my manual.
