I have a Gen 3 and my antenna is broken and is always up. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it or how they removed it. Thanks

my antenna sorta worked when i got the car from the the used car dealer, just that it was still winter and the bottom section kinda froze....it went in if u pushed it . then i kept seein all this nasty oil stuff covering the antenna so on a warm day, i decided to use some wd40 and spray that stuff down and wipe it. while doing so, the bottom part got so stuck that the motor doesnt catch the antenna anymore. since then i've left it 3/4 up. a replacement is over a hundred bucks and a non-telescoping one doesn't qutie look right to me. maybe one day i'll take it apart and see wut's the problem
just replace your antenna or disconnect the motor on the current one. I have a replacement antenna and the motor still ran but i disconnected it cause it was annoying... its really not a big deal to have your antenna out all the time... jsut that noise bugged me... its easy to do... just peel down the right side of the trunk wall and disconnect the connector... the antenna still picks up a signal, but it stops trying to push and pull.

the problem with yours is that you used wd40
it needs grease....wd40 cuts right thru all of it.....grease it up again, and it'll probably work just fine.....

Here's a site that shows you how to replace your antenna. http://carstereohelp.com/strtoyota.htm . I've done it and it's real easy. You'll need two people, one to turn radio on and off and one to put the new antenna in. When you pull the old antenna out be sure to place it along side of the new one to ensure that all of the old antenna came out. If it didn't then you'll need to open up the power unit and remove the rest.
Aparently somehow, my dad was able to completely break off the antenna during his normal driving. So I replaced it a few weeks after I got the car. About a month after that, my brother goes and breaks it on a tree in our driveway. Now, I just disconnected the remote turn on wire and leave it 1/3 the way up. I was thinking of doing the s2000 conversion... might do it later.

i replaced the antenna on my 91. it was pretty simple...
it was a pretty generic radio crap unit, bought it on ebay for 14.99. works just fine. we even were able to use some of the stock mounting hardware so it looks stock...
