I had very similar, if not in fact the same problems with my lil' sedan as you're having with your's. And as you know, both our cars are gen. 2s. To be specific, my car started acting up like this back when I wasn't all into the car scene and didn't give a flip about the Camry. I told my dad the problems I was having with the car, and I believe what he did was change the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and belts. Not sure if he did anything with the fuel injectors, though that could be the problem. If I were you, I'd have a look at the injectors. You might wanna check your timing too.

Soon after my dad did all that, the problem continued for just a very very short lil' bit afterwards, but soon went away.

thanks guys for the help. i figured it out

i cleaned of my air filter on my cold air intake and must have put to much pressure on the intake valve. along with loose claps the CAI valve shifted and lost a good contection with the throttle body. i took off the CAI to throttle body and went to get some carb and throttle body cleaner, squirted her down let her set and went at it with a toothbrush and a old rag. connected everything and tighted all the clamps on CAI and she runs good now!

the problem was when i took off air filter and move the pipe of throttle body. i cleaned the throttle body while i was at it and nasty black gunk was wiped away.

everything is smooth now and running good.

im starting to get the hang of this car repair thing

Also, you might be interested in doing a little something extra for your Camry. Do a search for "taking care of camry" and see if you can find my thread about where I describe running automatic transmission fluid through the ports.
