Road Trip advice needed: extra small parts to take
since my road trip will be long (maybe like 5,000 miles long), I was thinking of taking a few extra parts along that could fail along the way. I know what those parts were on my Volvo, but not on my Camry (94 1MZ-FE). Any advice? tia
This might snd extreme, but a timing belt. If it fails and the mechanic can't get his hands on the right one for your car, you'll be inconvenienced while waiting for a $10 belt.
-lightbulbs for dark rural roads
-jumper cables
-fluids (gas,oil,windshield washer)
-garbage bags; life savers in the rain
-glowsticks/flares
Just do a check of the car and prepare as best you can and enjoy the trip
zip ties, duct tape, heavy wire/coathanger, basic tool kit, rad hose, jug, timing belt, fluids... wipers, pretty much the same as the volvo, its pretty universal, nothing special really
what went wrong with the volvo? the only time mine failed me was on a road trip (pin that holds the camgear to the camshaft broke) stranded 3 days for a 10 cent pin
Basically what everyone else said above, but also make sure you thouroughly check over your car and make sure it's in good running condition and is prepared for the trip. Replace whatever's worn and such BEFORE your trip
Hope this all helps!

For everything else, there's paper bags!

the $%^& ignition control module failed twice (or was it three) times on me. about a $30 part. ECU failed once and then again, when the blower motor was not properly sealed (water dripped right down on it). This was a B230FT engine (IIRC). Other than that ;{ it was fine.
my blower fan stopped working in january/february, took me a while to find one, had to drive with the windows open so the car wouldn't fog up, fun stuff, had the seat heaters though, so it was alright
