trouble with torque converter...HELP!!!

Ok, I just installed a new engine in my 87 camry le(4cyl). Its an automatic, while putting it together I didn't put the converter on the tranny first. I bolted it to the flexplate, then bolted the tranny to the engine and installed the engine. Now it doesn't work. I don't think the pump in the tranny is working. I pulled the lines off of the radiator and there is no fluid circulating. I need to know if I can still fix my problem and can I do it while the engine/tranny are in the car. THank you in advance for any help or advice.

Yup the pump is not working.

The torque converter needs to be installed onto the tranny first. Then you can bolt the tranny up to the block and bolt the torque converter to the flex plate through the access plate on the bottom side of the tranny.

I hope that you didn't drive the car around with the tranny pump not working. If you do you'll fry the tranny cos its not getting any fluid.

You have to pull the tranny off, unbolt the torque converter and reinstall it onto the tranny first.

Make sure that the torque converter is clicked on all the way onto the input shaft on the tranny otherwise it won't drive the pump and you'll fry the tranny.

No I couldn't drive it around because the converter didn't have any fluid so it wouldn't budge. Thats how I found out about the problem. Thanks for the input.
