I don't quite understand your question. Are you thinking of installing them to eliminate the noise or have you already installed them and the noise is still there? In either case, the answer is no, the noise is not normal. If you already installed them, I would check the sway bar bushings and the sway bar end links. I had a 98 Camry and I installed the Monroe Quick Struts in the rear to eliminate a clunk and they did the trick. I looked at these Quick Struts as a shotgun approach of replacing everything strut related (strut, spring, strut mount, and all the rubber pieces) that could have been causing the clunk. I loved the ride after the replacement and my clunk in the rear was gone. My wife even loved the improvement in the ride quality. I can't give you any long term results as our 98 was totaled about 5 weeks after replacing them. I also had to replace a sway bar end link in the front of our 98 to eliminate a rattle up front. To test for this, jack up the front of the car and see if you can duplicate the clunk by moving the end link on the side where you hear the clunk.
