need transmisssion flush advice

I want to do a transmission flush on my camry LE. It has 65,000 miles and n oil has never . I was advised to let it alone in that the transmission has never been changed. I find that strange. Any ideas on that?

According to Tom and Ray (the car guys) and other sources, that's a myth. Back when cars usually didn't last much past 100K I would have agreed but now I would say drain and refill. Drive awhile (1-3K) and do it again if it looks dirty. (Hard to get all the fluid with a drain and refill.)

Just to amplify on what Dave said, back in the day we used to do flushes as a last ditch try to save a tranny. Mostly it failed as they were usually too far gone when the car was brought in and the tranny totally failed within days or weeks. I believe those kinds of stories give rise to false impressions that changing the fluid precipitated the failure.
In your place I'd drain and refill the trans every time I changed the engine oil until I was satisfied with the condition of the fluid.
Three things to remember...
Drain and refill is easier and safer than flushing.
New fluid is the best fluid.
You're not "contaminating" new fluid by adding it to old, you're "refreshing" the old.

I'm with the other two people. the advice you may have heard against flushing is mainly intended for cars with over 100,000 miles and not lower mileage cars like yours. The reason is that on many high mileage transmissions, the crud is literally the only thing holding the parts together and allowing it to function! So if you flush such a trans, you might turn your functional transmission into a dead one.

you dont say the year of your car but beware, if it is 2000 model or after it probably recommends toyota TIV fluid, only - it will say what it uses on the dipstick. toyota says NOT to intermex with Dexron or anything else, only use TIV.
TIV fluid is $5 a qt and is a dealer only. My 2002 V6 had 66,000 miles on it and i just changed the ATF without dropping the pan, just like an oil change. (My year car has a metal strainer and not a guaze filter so i just left it alone - im guessing if you pulled your pan at this mileage your strainer, if thats what you have, would still be pretty clean). It took about 3 or 4 qts of fluid to refill it.

You'll be fine with the miles you listed.

It won't be a problem at all.
