i am looking to add a nitrous system to my 3s-fe , 91 camry, it has 76,000 miles on it, almost bone stock with the exception of a suspension and intake. from the research ive done, it looks like this is the easiest, cheapest, most reliable upgrade ive come across... so any suggestions, recomendations, help anything anyone can tell me, would be incredibly helpful. even a horror story or 2 would help me.

First off before you add any nitrous do the following upgrades prior and tuneups:
-Leak compression test (to see if you have any occuring leaks within the cylinders)
-upgrade ignition (plugs, wires, ect)
-make sure your internal components are in suitable condition or better yet upgrade them (gaskets, pistions, connecting rods, ect)
-exhaust upgrade
-air induction upgrade
-fuel upgrade ie: pump & injectors (recommended but not required varying on system you want to run), also try to replace fuel lines with stainless steel lines since rubber hoses like to snap off t-valves you'll be tapping into, fuel solenoids, and or nitrous manufacturer fuel regulators.
-adjust your timing
- gauges are a neccesity too (nitrous bottle psi and fuel pressure gauges are what I use) maybe a A/F would be some help as well.
Other than the items I listed above there will be a little more recommendations listed in the nitrous manufacturers manual.
Everything velocity recommended, but remember that mileage aside these aren't the strongest engines internally (for evidence do a search for 88LE's post with pics of his blown piston after only 10 psi boost. Gruesome stuff.). I'd keep it down to no more than say a 50 or a 75 shot if you want to keep the motor mostly stock. As far as cheap power goes, "noss" is probably the best but I hear refilling the bottles isn't cheap.
I'd also make sure your transmission (esp. if you have an auto) can handle the stress of the added power; since you can usually only run at full throttle with this stuff the trans will be more heavily taxed.
Just my $.02

My first suggestion would be to do all the tests that velocity said.
One of the weakest points of the 3sfe engine is the head gasket, so I would replace that with a TRD metal one for a 3sgte. The pistons are okay, the reason why 88LEs melted was because of no intercooler. As far as which nitrous to use, I wouldn't recommend a dry shot just because of the risk of running lean. I would highly recommend that you use a direct port, it's the safest and you'll get the best power out of it.
Carefully ask yourself how often you will use it.
A 30 shot of nos at 10bhp/lb/min and a 10 Lb bottle will last about 3 minutes at a refill price of around $30-60 depending on your area. A 50 shot of nos with a 10 LB bottle will last 1 min 12s.
Also remember that a 1/4 empty bottle is nearly useless unless you have a heating blanket because the liquid boils off and chills itself faster "and the tank" reducing the vapour pressure.
An interesting rule of thumb ( I created heh ) for the average guy who is going to actually *use* the nitous is to start with a timespan 20 HP = 4 weeks then for every 10HP take one week off of the refill time. 30HP = 3 weeks, 50hp = weekly.

yeah i forgot to mention that a 10lbs. bottle refills does cost me 40.00 USD. In about a whole year I average to go through about 6-8 refills. Also your nitrous solenoids do go out frequently. Either you can buy a rebuild kit they sell or a whole new solenoid that will run around 80 bucks. just some more info you might need to know.
thanks for all the help guys, and about refilling the bottle, im not worried much, ive got a connection from working at a paintball place (where we used nitrous in our guns)...that used to supply us with air, well they have the equipment to fill a cars nos bottle as well. also i was under the impression that my timing wouldnt need adjusted because im only looking for something like a 40-50 shot system. and its not like this thing is kicked in all the time...if so, can anybody recomend how much i adjust my timing?
