generation three exhaust upgrade??'s

alright guys, without trying to sound like another annoying and hopeless newb... ive got some questions about a possible exhaust upgrade on my 1994 camry four cylinder. my exhaust is starting to sound kinda rough and im going to have it checked out... if it needs to be replaced, what would you guys suggest? if i were to go for a muffler, i want a high quality one (which would include which specific mufflers? reccomendations?)... not some forty dollar ebay coffee can piece of junk. Ive also been told to run larger pipe throughout the cars exhaust system... i guess my question is what will these two things do to my cars sound, performance, gas mileage, temperature, etc? im not looking to make a camry something it is not (like a supra) i just thought that if i needed a new exhaust, maybe aftermarket would be the way to go. any of your advice would be much apreciated. thanx in advance. I have also found aftermarket catylictic converters for my car (universals) aare these a good idea?

well, if u go with larger pipes and a straight thru muffler, u'll lose backpressure and some of the torque. i say stick with the stock size pipe and get a magnaflow, there's this street series muffler with dual tips that looks normal on a camry even though it's chromed up. the design is straight thru though

aftermarket stock resonators are a very good idea- coupled with a larger pipe and a nice muffler you will have a very nice sporty sounding exhaust.

i have gone through a couple different brands of mufflers, and i am most pleased with my magnaflows. they are very reasonably priced, and very high quality. talk to sean at www.ctmotorsport.com if you are interested in buying one of these mufflers- he can get you a great deal.

if you want to hear how my car sounds, here is a sound clip..

the loudest thing when i redline it is my intake- the exhaust is fairly silent in the cabin. just a nice low rumble up to 1200rpm, and then it mostly cuts out. good luck, and feel free to ask any questions about my setup!

thanks a lot for the help guys... i sort of like the exhaust note thats sort of more towards the whine than the low note, but i dont want a super high pitched cheap civic sound ya know? i was just wondering if a new muffler would hurt my cars gas mileage or temperature, you know, driveability issuse.... i mean lest face it, thats what i need my car to be... a practical daily driver.
