I'm considering getting a TRD supercharger - will be really grateful if you share some info with me. Fast! Thanks!
I know they are discontinued, but one can still find them...
- How much should I pay for a new one?
- What's in the box?
- How can I tell if this is the newer version and not the previous (Kazuma?) version?
- If it is for a manual tranny, what do I need to make it work for the auto and the other way around? Is there an ECU that comes with it that would be different? What else?
- Same as above: what's the difference if it is for the Solara vs. Camry?
- How much should I pay for a new one?
They were about $1800 during the last blowout sale
- What's in the box?
everything you need

dynamic belt tensioner

Manual EGR tube. Same Elec. Boost Contoller, just wired differently
- Same as above: what's the difference if it is for the Solara vs. Camry?
same. free strut bar with the Solara kits
I didn't know they discontinued the superchargers. Why'd they stop?

Thanks! I missed the previous buy at $1800 for the same reason - I need to convince myself and my wife if I need one... I have a '00 4 cyl. LE in which I have put a lot of time and it runs well. I'd need to trade it for a v6 that I wouldn't know much about.
I estimate it's going to be about $6K difference if I get a low mileage '00 or '01 v6, plus it'll be getting in the "gas guzzler" of premium fuel efficiency range with the supercharger (as per my idea of fuel efficiency )
If the S/C stays with the stock, or slightly higher compression, how's the reliability - I have not seen many high-mileage S/C owners on these posts...

There seem to be two versions according to parts #:
00602-17620-302
00646-17620-302
Any idea which one has the dynamic belt tensioner? I spoke with Jeff from http://www.toyotaworld.com who was very helpful and he indicated that the 646 would be the older Kazuma part # - would that mean it does not have the dynamic belt tensioner?
After doing some math (and talking to my wife ), I decided I'm not going to go through the expense to get a low mileage v6 and let go of my trusted i4.
But, if you are interested, there is a new TRD S/C on eBay listed for $1600 - just search for "TRD Supercharger" and you'll get the listing.
ok, so reviving this thread. I'm getting a s/c this friday, but I don't kow if its the 602 or 646 one. Does it matter? Should I get the Dyn Belt Ten.? I've been trying to call different places for parts (b/c all I have is the s.c unit itself) anyone know of a place where I can get everything?
go to a Toyota Dealership that deals with TRD parts. The place where i ordered my Puller accidently ordered me a dynamic tensioner, it'd just take a week or two to get to you.. (might be shorter since they had already ordered the part for me and had to send it back to TRD..) Just saying they're out there.
Not sure if the plate assembly has the spot for the Dynamic Tensioner though.. (the old one)...

so the Dny. Ten is just an add on to the ilde plate?
in any case , Sean can you ask your guys if they have, in stock, the parts:
00602-17620-330 - s/c belt
00602-17620-320 - Idle Plate, pulley, and assembly
89661-102 - EBC
89661-103 - EBC Harness
If your guys carry it, please let me know, cause I've been calling everywhere around here and nobody has anything.Thanks.
p.s. also in the install manual off of trdusa.com, the parts list was coded '00646'. I heard somewhere that this coded s/c is the older model and the '00602' is the newer one. do you know which is it?
they discontinued the TRD supercharger for GEN 4 coz it was getting too old for toyota to make them.... and since the new 2006 Camry will be supercharged, they're currently reproducing the new TRD supercharger.

That's the toyota Dealership in glen Burnie. They deal with TRD Parts for the most part. Call them.. they're gonna tell you, they have to call TRD more than likely to get part numbers... (They Close 7PM EST, but not sure what time TRD closes) If anything.. they can get it... if you can't buy from them.. they maybe can give you the number to another Dealership that deals with TRD parts.. if not. Most difficult case scenario. you could send the money and i could pick them up from the dealership over here
I'm not sure about the part Numbers because I got mine from Pat and he seems to upgrade his to the newer one or something, i dunno because he sent the original box and manuals that say Kazuma

Not sure which one either. The S/C (for my Sienna) was bought brand new and it came in a KAZUMA box and the label is 00602-17620-305.
I think the p/n 00602-17620-320 - Idle Plate, pulley, and assembly (for the Camry/Solara) is the new version or retrofit assembly. So you need use the s/c belt #00602-17620-332.
The dynamic belt tensioner is required (p/n 00602-17620-365) and it will be mounted into the idle plate assembly.
Send an email to larry@brandsport.com. I buy my TRD spare parts from them. They have good price and free shipping.
well I was talking to scott from solaraguy and he is able to get me the idle, pulley, tenoser and the bolts. All i need now is the EBC. Sean, can you give me a call for me and see if they still carry it. An ebc for an AUTO. Thanks. Sienna, thanks, I'll email him now.

If they have been discontinued, can they still be found and bought for a Gen 4 (1998 Camry XLE V6)? I see the right one listed on www.trdusa.com, but now I'm not sure if they have them in stock for sale. Any other idea's on where they can be bought and for how much? I might just make this my Christmas present to myself this year if they are becoming rare now.
