steering box damaged, happened to my dad's accord when i lost traction and control on this really slippery curve after a heavy snowstorm and my car went up teh sidewalk (dind't hit anything or anyone tho, was quite lucky) and i managed to screw up the steering in such a way that to go straight, i woudl have to point the wheel 90 degrees to the right. anyway, one or more of the teeth in the rack and pinion inside the steering box was damaged and makes a clunking noise when turning

Don't bet on the bearings being good.

I have a 91 Camry V6.

The bearing went bad in the car at around 140,000. I started feeling a slight vibration/noise on left turns.

Became more and more pronounced. No problem at all going 90 straight.

The mechanic decided to pull one of the axles (the other was just replaced). The bearings just fell out. Like I said, it ran fine straight and to the left. This was the right side bearings.

Took around 4000 miles of highway driving to finally find this. Still rode fine, except for the noise when I slowed down after getting off the highway.

Check the bearings. You may be surprised.
