This whole "voiding the warranty" thing is, for the most part, like a form of urban legend. The mere presence of a mod does not entitle the dealer to declare the warranty void. If and when you have some sort of failure which you claim is covered by the warranty, the dealer or manufacturer must, if they wish to avoid covering that repair, prove that your mod or failure to maintain, was the cause of the failure, instead of their defect. Thus, if you install, say a turbo, and your engine blows up, they can probably prove that the turbo had something to do with that, and avoid coverage. But if a week later, a power window motor goes out, they CAN NOT say, "hey, the turbo voided your wty, so tough". Unless, of course, they can prove that the turbo caused the window motor to fail (unlikely).
Here's the community's token lawyer's conclusion: when your engine starts blowing smoke, your dealer probably will too. Don't be fooled and don't let them do this to you!!!!!!!!
