How U make JDM Engine Emission Legal? Wraith? anyone?
I understand JDM engines don't have EGR like us. Is there a way to modify it? I'm not sure about other states, but Texas emission laws is becoming more strict. Car yr prodution in 95 and down have to be dyno, unlike the simple exhaust test awhile back. Not only that but the inspector also plug into the car computer and "read" it. I want to swap 3s-gte in my 2nd gen, but also want it to be daily driven. Anyone have experience with this? Wraith, i believe your 3s-gte is JDM, correct? How u handle the dilemna? There are alot of thread on 3s-gte Conversion, but i don't see any thread on this "Emission " problem.

um ... must have friends in high places.... hehehehe
I take the 5th because if I answer this question I may incriminate myself...
WARLOCK, PLEASE SPELL CORRECTLY... i cant even understand your posts anymore!
as for the emmissions, there are a couple options... first is to get the emmissions parts from the USDM version of 3sgte engines and make it work.
second is to know someone in your local emmissions place, or pay someone off to pass you...
Disclaimer: i would never suggest doing this, this post is purely for information purposes only and is not to be taken as an order
I know folks keep laughing at me when I suggest this.
Alternate fuel. Propane. Burns much cleaner.
BTW for those following my project I finally got the adapter I needed so I should be able to do a test of the parts early next week. If I get it running smoothly (and I will) its off to the conversion shop to get the tanks switched next month.
Woohooo I'm gonna get my baby back.

First off, what gen 3S are you gonna swap in?
Second, you can contact the EPA and they have a list of places that will retrofit the car for you, best bet is to go to their website.
Third, Japanese imported engines do not have EGRs- an important smog device required in US engines. It is impossible to modify a non-EGR head. Emission controls in Japan are stricter than the US, so the engines actually run cleaner, but they will fail any visual smog inspection.
Fourth find an import broker who deals with cars, they can help.
Ok I said too much have fun

you seem to have forgot that you need all catalytic converters in its stock location. And theres just no why in hell you gonna use the stock 3s-gte primary cat with out re-do the whole mounting configuration in the Camry engine bay.
