Should the door panel be removed before replacing the passenger side power mirror on 96 Camry? How is that done?

It shouldn't have to be removed, if it's the same as my 94. Pull the black triangular piece off from the inside of the door. The rest should be obvious.

I just did it this weekend. The panel will have to be slightly pulled back at least to disconnect the power mirror connector; mine was tucked about 4-5 inches down behind the panel. I had to replace the door lock solenoid as well so I just pulled the whole panel off.

There are 2 different types of connectors on the Gen 3 Camry.

Type 1: Plug is RIGHT on the mirror itself. Only need to putt eh black triable off, and unscrew the 3 nuts.

Type 2: Plug is behind doorpanel. Door panel needs to be removed, and then unscrew the 3 nuts.

I think it may have been a US v JDM thing. My car is US made and the connector is only behind the door panel.

On my 94 Japan made car the connector was accessible by just removing the black triangle.
