Oil Leak.

HI , NEW HERE, LOOKS LIKE A GREAT SITE.

I HAVE A 1996 CAMRY THAT HAS AN OIL LEAK, I PUT A NEW GASKET ON THE OIL PAN BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT WAS LEAKING. I NOW AM PUTTING MY ATTENTION TO THE REAR MAIN SEAL. HAS ANYONE ENCOUNTERED A BAD MAIN SEAL ON THE 4 CYL'S, I CANT BELEIVE THATS WHAT IT IS BUT THATS
THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF. THE TORQUE CONVERTED IS NOT COVERED WITH OIL , BUT IT SURE LOOKS LIKE THE OIL IS
COMING FROM THAT AREA.

THANKS

PLEASE DO NOT POST IN CAPS....

with that said, it's most likely that it's your rear main seal, can you notice if it's dripping on your exhaust?? or is there a lot of oil on your exhaust itself? (look at the flex pipe) that's where mine was leaking on. how many miles are on it?

MORE INFO!!! to better assist you.

good luck.

sorry about caps, i should have know that from the chevy forum also.

now onto the leak, yes its dripping on the exhaust,it seems to be collecting all over the bracket that bolts to the trans side cover and the exhaust bolts to the bracket.

when ive seen rear mains leak , usually the converter is also
covered with oil

thanks
