Need help on installing headers!

Wassup everyone, I got another camry 1994 5sfe again. I need help on installing the brospeed headers I have onto my car. I have 2 sensors and there is only one hole on the lower pipe of the header and the top one is going to be hanging if I try to install it. What do I do? WIll I have to do any welding? For the people that have installed it please give me step by step info on how to do this I am really suck.

Thanks,
Calvin

You'll have to drill a hole and weld on a bung for a 02 sensor.

Ok, you said all I have to do is drill a hole and bung for the other O2 sensor. Is there anything else I need to do? Will I need to do custom piping or anything special? Or is it just okay the way it is, meaning all I have to do is just unbolt the stock one and bolt on the bosal brospeed pipe.

P.S. Its a direct fit right? Where is the best place to drill the other 02 sensor hole? Pics if any would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Calvin

I would say have a shop do it for you. It might not be cheap, but your going to have to get the exhaust piping welded. At least on mine you did. I have a 92 with a manifold cat and a secondary cat. The brospeed header doesn't bolt right to the stock piping, so I was running straight header and the downpipe. Not a good idea! Definately make sure the sensor bung for the second o2 sensor is installed. Your car will run like crap on just one o2 sensor. The ecu gets incorrect readings and as precaution the motor will run rich.
As far as the install it wasn't too bad. We knew that it was going to have to go to an exhaust shop from the start for the new piping but we installed the header anyways. Just get some degreasing stuff(cant remember what) and a breaker bar. You can get that at any auto parts store. I needed the breaker bar, some of those bolts are rusted on there really well. You have to remove the alternator as well to get to the left side of the exhaust manifold.
Other than that just bolt it together- but it will take some time. If you have some decent mechanical knowledge I would say give it a try. If this is your first serious project on your camry I would say have somebody else do it. If you can weld then thats even better so you dont need an exhasut shop. Good luck!
Just ask if you need any help.

The thing is, I already got custom piping done from the muffler to the downpipe cat. So after installing the headers and welding on a O2 sensor bung there should be no problem with the car right? No engine check light or anything should appear right? Should I just a exhaust/muffler shop install the headers for me? Cause you said I needed to do custom piping regardless right? Its not a direct fit as far as piping is concerned. Please give me feedback, thanks.

I still might say have a shop do it. I'm not sure if the exhaust sytem, in particular the cat is different on your year. On mine the cat is integrated into the stock downpipe. Thus by removing the stock downpipe to put on the piece for the header-I had no cat. It was just header, downpipe, collector and then nothing. I had to have a shop install a universal cat and weld it in. Then the o2 bung needs to be welded in. One o2 sensor needs to be before the cat and one after. Unfortunately the header was designed supposedly for the federal camry-(thats what i was told) But in California emmisions are tougher and the setup is a little different. There is two 02 sensors. Thats why the second 02 bung needs to be welded in. Leave it to California.
If you don't have a new cat, any welding equipment, and a lot of patience just take it to a shop. It was a big headache for me-especially the 02 sensor. Best to get it done right from the start. Try to take it to a custom shop. A lot of places wouldn't even touch mine to try to fix it after it was installed because the header isn't carb legal. Where are you from?
Let me know and just ask if you need any help.

Oakland, CA not that far from you. Can you still pass smog with the exact setup you got? If its possible let's meet up and you can take me to the shop you got yours done at.

Calvin : If you are willing to come up to the Sac area, I recommend Redfield machines in Davis. The owner is a mechanic and a machinist. His name is Bob and gets the best reviews as a mechanic in this area. He is super honest, and that is why most people go to him. He costs a little more than others, but his experience and expertise I think can not be matched. Quality in this case is worth the pay.

My roommate had an engine mount that he custom made. It was beautiful. Bob also painted it. It looked really good.

If it wasn't for his advice and encouragment, my roommate and I would not have pulled off the mechanical jobs we do including my engine swap and our friends tranny swap.

Well the visual smog should at most smog shops fail because there is no carb stamp. Whether you could find a shop that just wouldn't care about that as long as it passed the actual emmissions test-I'm not sure. I haven't had to get my car smogged yet-not until May. By then I won't even have my same motor though. Sorry I couldn't help you on that one.
Just out of curiosity is your car lowered? And if so how much? The new downpipe hangs down lower than the stock one and I have had a problem with my cat. I have broken the honeycomb inside the cat twice now, just from the car bottoming out and a tow truck. My car is on intrax springs with kyb struts. It sucks having to get another cat two times. Gets kinda pricey.

I got exactly the same setup you got. Intrax and KYB, with stock tires. I was thinking though, if I don't pass smog emissions regardless I'm just gonna run ful piping then, and when the time comes for smog just remove the entire piece and bolt on the stock one.

I got different tires though! I love my tires- Bridgestone Potenza Sole Position SO-3. They grip so well. I highly recommend them, they are a bit pricey though.

So camry_dude your saying if I added the cat onto my exhaust system I would need to do custom piping right? What if I leave out the cat? Do I still need to do custom piping to connect the header to the end of the muffler? Please let me know, thanks.
