How to hot wire a 2nd Gen camry (not stealing it!!)

OK, heres the scenario. Theres a V6 camry parked up at this Publix near my house. I live in ga, and it has an '02 Texas plate, cob webs going from the tires to the ground. So I talked to the manager at Publix and he said he was gonna have it towed, but I got some front end damage to my 2nd Gen from where my mom backed into me. So i asked him if I could take it off his hands, and he liked that idea more so he dont have to pay for a tower. SO, I was wondering which wires I need to connect, cuz my key dont fit. I got a Haynes manual with the wire diagraming, and I know I connect the starter wire to.....? Any ideas? I looked at the diagrams, and all I saw that looked famlilar was the starter wire, which I know cannot be connected indefinitely cuz the starter cannot be on all the time. SO... any ideas??? Which wires do I connect, or can I get something into the key hole so i dont have to hot wire the damn thing? and again, I AM NOT STEALING THIS!!! It is about to be towed off to a junkyard, where they will charge too much for the free body parts I can get off of it now, and I dont feel like payin 50 bux for him to tow it to my house...

Isnt the trick to take a screw driver, hammer it into the keyhole really far, and then turn the screwdriver with a pair of vice grips? Works on older american cars .

This reminds me of one incident when my uncle lost his car keys in the sewer drain. He rigged the ignition system so he could start it with a flat head screwdriver This was on a 2nd gen camry tho'.

My car was stolen a few times and everytime a cop would tell us how they did it. Im going to try to explain but i dont know exactly how it worked. So they "Jimmied" the lock by sticking a long maybe flat piece of metal like a ruler till they pushed the lever that opens the door. So your inside the car, from there, they stuck a screw driver in the left side of the steering wheel, the little arm that has your turn signals on it. What they did was stick the screw driver right up to that arm, and then they jam it in breaking that arm, but under that, there supposedly is some kind of switch that when you jam the screwdriver in, it its some kind of switch that turns it on. This is how they supposedly steal Gen 2 Camrys all the time. I wish i would have taken pictures, because i forgot exactly how it went. And i was embarrassed that my car was stolen. I would just tow it to your house, take the parts and then tow it to the junkyard. Thats what $50.00 for each towing, but then you got way more stuff. Hey, think i could have the Headlights off that car? i would pay for shipping and everything. Oh and if it was stolen, maybe they cut the wires, and you might not be able to get it to start.

Shuluke
Keep me in touch about the headlights.

undo the wires?

or just round up anybody u can find with a older toyota and try there keys. i heard a story about a used car lot, and if they ever lost the keys to a car, they would just try every key they had and everytime it worked.

To answer your question, i actually need the headlights cuz ones broken on the inside (dont know how) and the other was smashed when my mom hit me in the driver side front. And yes, all you have to do is disconnect all the wires. Thats all the ignition switch does, it creates a circuit when its on, and when you take your key out, it disconnects the circuit. I'm actually thinking of an easier, but somewhat arduous task, of removing my ignition switch and putting it into the one I need to get. I think it wud be easier than trying to hot wire it, but i havent taken a look at mine to see how hard it is to get the switch out. I will keep you updated, in case anyone needs to "borrow" a 2nd Gen Camry!!

Heheehe...i dont think we should have this thread:p People are gonna start stealing camrys now. "Pushing the door lever" on the Gen3 camry also works tho'. As for starting the ignition system....thats the same concept but taking it apart is much better. Nothing breaks and its not a one time thing.

On my uncles gen2 camry the ignition cylinder was hanging out and you could start it easily but Theres some kind of technique tho' ...and if you wanna turn it off just use the flathead and turn it back counterclockwise.

If you want i'll ask him how then i could email you. **But if I were you you should just have it towed and get the parts. Even if you can hotwire the car how would you know that it will start? Its been sitting for so long. Plus you might get pulled over for driving it unregistered with expired plates not mention when they see that you rigged the ignition system

If you dont wanna pay for towing get a truck and strip the camry from there. Once you get all the parts you need. Your boss can have it towed just my 2 cents

Well, my main concern still is just getting into the damn thing! I tried to get into my car with it locked (only one door was locked of course), and i cudnt get it with a close hanger. Any other suggestions, or is that the only way?

K, I just got one question: How is this not stealing? You're taking a car that doesn't belong to you without the owners permission. They can have it towed because it's breaking laws, you can't just take it because it's been sitting there for a while. I suggest you look up the owner of the license plate and ask him if you can have it, obviously he doesn't care about it if it's been sitting there for a while. Maybe the car died and he hasn't had a chance to go back and get it.

I absolutely agree. Dude the owner of the lot has no right to say go ahead take someone ELSE's car, strip it, and oh throw it out after ur done. Doesn't matter how long its been sitting there...if you were gonna take the car without telling the owner the last thing you wanna do is post it up on a public internet forum for all to see. Especially if you're asking how to wire it...its like asking to get busted...what are you gonna tell a cop if he sees u jimming the car and wiring it..."Oh, the owner of the lot (not the owner of the car) told me I can take it for parts???"

No matter which way you cut it its theft. If you really need parts and got no money, stealing something from a junkyard is far less harmful then taking someone's car. At least the crap in the junkyard is well..crap for parts.
