Just wondering if anybody needed their's replaced?
I took mine to T-Lex the other day because my Gen 3 was leaking some fluids... wasn't sure if was Tranny, Engine or Coolant (well wasn't any of the three) turns out it front engine shock.
The car has 154K on it and is a 94 V6...
Vibrations haven't been felt yet but fluid is still leaking outta the damn thing... anybody else have this problem?
Are u sure its none of the other fluids? If its only water it could be from the a/c. Id say check the fluid thats leaking see if you can identify it. Before having your engine mounts replaced.

Im almost positive that your engine mounts contain no fluid. They're just brackets and insulators with some bolts. I don't quite understand the whole engine mount shock deal either? If it's green fluid it should be coolant. But don't hold me to it I haven't seen you're engine bay plus I'm only an enthusiast not a mechanic.
Anyone else got some advice?

Put your car on the hoist and you'll understand what I talking about
I was scratching my head to what fluid was leaking myself... I believe I have Toyota OEM Coolant so it's red... and the ohter fluids are kinda orange/brown so was really puzzled at what was going on... car drives fine though so I ain't worried about it too much.
I'll probably get it done before winter rolls around as I'll be driving that one primarily instead of my other car.
guys, this "SHOCK", is the mount that is on an auto tranny equipped v6 engine from 92-96. It looks just like a strut. There could pissibly be fluid in it... im not sure. but definitely not enough to leak out. Green fluid is coolant. Find out where the leak is for sure, and fix it! If this strut were to blow out, it would most likely do so while driving and wouldnt leak gradually, and if so, it would yield about enough fluid to fill half a soda can. not a big trouble......... this engine mount strut is designed to control rotational flex from the engine, it really shouldnt blow... get a second opinion. I had one on my old camry, 92 with 206K miles on it and the mount wasnt blown...so in this case, i would say if it were truly blown, there is a bigger cause that you should investigate.
Isn't that a cute strut never knew it was there..shame on me..I got a gen3 v6 auto too...
100 bucks for that little crudder? Dayam leave it be~!

Yup I ain't touching the bugger... the leaking has subsided guess it's all outta fluid!
car still drives really smooth so guess it's that stupid mount. That and we had it up on the hoist and it was clearly coming from that stupid mount... had the entire bottom end of the engine shampoo so it was squeeky clean a few days before I noticed more fluid leaking.....
I'm relieved to find out where the problem came from and I know it's not coolant. toyota coolant is red. tht and this fluid was slipery... coolant smells funny and u'll know it when driving cuz it'll stink big time!
I might replace it with a solid piece from a Gen4 if it fits... or just leave it be .
MOST coolant on the market today is green... toyota coolant may be red, but who in their right mind would pay for that crap when its no different than normal stuff...
it only smells when it leaks if it leaks on the engine and it burns...
it does have a little slipperyness to it... not much just just a little... i would imagine the fluid in the mount is VERY thick... most likely much thicker than ever motor oil.
One of the things I learned from talking to several toyota dealers over between LA and Sac is that Gen 3 Camrys (especially 5SFE models) tend to need the hydraulic (Front) and Torque (Bone) mounts replaced since the engine and tranny tend to vibrate slightly more when expected when going into overdrive.
I've bought the replacements ($42 for the Bone mount, $130 for the hydraulic). Once I put them in, I'll update if the vibration I get when accelerating stops.
One other side effect of it, the axle/driveshaft tends to warp if the mounts are bad enough for the engine to sway slightly.
The easiest way to determine if you have the problem (I've found) is if the car vibrates heavily between 65 and 75 mph (when it goes into overdrive). If you look at the bone mount, and its cracked, more than likely the hydraulic mount needs to be replaced.
Let me know if I left something out, or need to make a correction. I learned about this from experience, talking with parts counter guys/mechanics, and guestimating.
