mixing oils of different weight ok?

quick question, just wondering if mixing oils of different weight is ok? i have both 5w30(or 5w20 i forgot) and 10w30. and if it is not ok, what are the adverse effects of doing so?

As long as you don't use a weight not recommened, I think you're OK

I mixed 2 quarts of 5W-30 and 2 quarts of 10W-30 once.

The owner's manual for a 2000 Camry states that 5W-30 is preferred but it also lists 10W-30 for 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C) and higher temps.

I didn't have any problems.
