losing off-the-line acceleration

ever since i had my catback stock replaced (it was all rusted out) with a stock unit and had new aquatred 3's put into my 92 gen3 camry i4 & auto, my low-end torque seems to be lacking until i get to around 4000 rpm, close to the peak tq, at which point it will start accelerating hard until 5400 rpm when it shifts gear. even at WOT it seems to not wanna accelerate. as soon as i hit 4000rpm, i can feel a difference in accereration. any suggestions as why this might be?

the stock piping does have a resonator.

it doesnt matter how heavy the car is if it needs a resonator- the only thing that matters is the engine displacement and horsepower!

and besides, you even told me that she was light on the gas ill take your slushbox on any day! lol

hmm, need to take a look under the car. it looks like a fatter section of pipe right? and does the resonator really add backpressure? i thought its main duty was to keep the noise down
