Problems with Moonroof

I have a '98 Camry and just recently I have had problems with my moonroof. Specifically, when I press on the buttons (which glow green, so I know there is power) to either open it or close it, a red light comes on one of the buttons. Sometimes the roof opens, sometimes not. However, the biggest problem I have right now is that I managed to use the "vent" button to open the roof but now I can't close it. I have pushed buttons after buttons but the roof doesn't close. It is getting cold and I'm concerned about causing more problems when it rains. How can I close the damn thing? Is there some manual way to do it?

The only thing I have done recently is replace the battery, so maybe something zapped the moonroof controls.

Please help

I'm not sure if it is the same on your car as mine (1992-1996 Camry), but if you take the cover off where the light is around the contols, there is a small metal circle with a notch you can manually turn to close it.

The reason for it now closing may be as simple as the contacts are dirty, and it needs to be taken apart an cleaned. But can't be sure unless I see it.

success

Thanks a lot. I manually closed it but disconnected the switch for the moonroof because it could open but wouldn't close so I won't accidently push it.

THANKS AGAIN!

No problem, glad you fixed it. I'll take a guess and say the switch is bad. If it is, you can usually find one on Ebay, which I don;t see any right now. Or you can call some local junkyards and ask. Something like that should be fairly cheap.

Good luck with the fix!
