Post automatic Transaxle fluid

In a camry 95 automatic LE 2.2 L engine 5SFE. Is the differential separated from the transaxle. I need to change the transaxle and differential fluid. Does it have to be drained and refilled separatedly. Many thanks

I'm not sure about '95 (gen 3) but on '00 (gen 4) 5sfe there is a separate drain and refill for the differential (its fluid does not mix with the tranny). Take a look under the car and if you see a drain plug on the differential and a refill plug on the back side of it - then it is separate. They are both 10mm hex-hole type of plugs.

If you DIY, then you need a piece of hose (they sell these with a screw-on on-off cap) to put on the fluid bottle, because you can't fill-in the differential without it. It will help with the filling in of the tranny as well.

Yes.

The tranny is filled through the dipstick and the differential is filled through the hole on the backside (after you remove the fill bolt).

No prob.

You can also unbolt the pan to the transmission and clean the filter, magnets (stuck to the inside of the pan), and pan.

The filter bolts onto the bottom of the tranny. Theres a little screen on their that you want to clean.

Doing this is optional and you have to replace the tranny pan gasket if you unbolt the pan.
