knock sensor

dose any body know how to get rid of the knock sensor on the 3vz or the 1 mz.the knock sensor wire went bad but i dont feel like taking it out and change a new one in. it cost to much.
i was wondering is there a way to fake it. so the ecu will think there is one but there is one.

do we have a on and off type of knock sensor
or do we have a resistor type

its neither resistance nor on/off... its a piezoelectric voltage signal.

when it detects a certain frequency (ie. the sound of knock) the ECU recognizes that voltage pattern and retards the timing VERY QUICKLY.

i havent found out a way of "faking" it yet... but a few guys have figured out that relocating the two stock knock sensors to less sensitive locations will keep the sensors impotent yet functioning (so no check-engine light).

the thread for the knock sensors is 12x1.25 mm.
