Question 98 camry I4 hesitation

I have a 98 camry I4. He body has 306K on it but the engine was rebuilt (sludge recall :-) ) at 237K so the engine has only 69K on it. I noticed that during acceleration I get an intermittent hesitation at about 2000 rpm or so. I also think I feel it form time to time on cruise control at highway speed, but that is not clear.

At first I though it was the tranny, given that it is original, but in test driving it the RPM's drop off when it happens, as opposed to going up - this makes me doubt the tranny is that cause. I seafoamed it both through the vac line and adding seafoam/cleaner to the tank to try to flush out any fuel system issues, but the hesitation remains. I am NOT getting any MIL/CEL codes thrown.

I am in the process of cleaning the car up to put it on the market as I got a new-to-me 2005 SE. Could this be an injector? Fuel pump, just bad gas/dirty tank etc?

after a brief chat with my tech at the Dealer he advises that since it is not throwing a code to look at the MAF sensor, throttle body and possibly clogged injector(s). I am going to d/l the OBDII data with the long and short term lean info to see if can narrow it down. I will also do a TB cleaning and make sure to get the MAF included in that cleaning.

Any other bright ideas?

I think you and your mechanic are on the right track so far, sounds strongly like an injector problem to me. At this point may i suggest you have the injectors removed from the engine and professionally cleaned or simply replace them - i'd compare the costs and you may just opt to replace them.
