Eibach

i have stock everything, and i was considering changing to Eibach Springs, and just that.. is that bad thing?

i found this:

Quote:

so what about when you have a drop on stock shocks...what happens?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See the OEM shocks are designed for the rated springs that come with them, the reason it is a big no no to do springs on stock shocks is namely because aftermarket springs are
1.)Stiffer, which causes shocks to do double/triple the work, which the shock was not designed for. Namely the oil in the shock gets too bubbly etc. and does not do its job.
2.)shorter than stock which means the stock shocks haves less travel, which can be dangerous, on quick manuevers, when the cars suspension can bottom out, causing dangerous conditions.
so does this mean i have to upgrade both shocks and springs to be safe?

i can feel the car loosing some control on hard turns and I want to make turning stiffer and more controlled, what should i do?
strut bars?

thanks

i heard eibach pro kits were designed to be used with both stock and aftermarket shocks. if u want it stiffer, upgrade the shock too. u can also get Ractive brand strut bars to prevent some of the chassis flex

yea it was design for stocks too I think, but it'll be better if you get aftermarket struts, the oem struts will give up after some time anyways

shouldn't stiffer springs be good for your stock shocks because they dampen the force faster than stock springs?

just wondering, i could be completely wrong...

No.

The shocks / struts do the dampening.

well then what do stiffer springs do other than lower the car and prevent bottoming out?

aftermarket springs will normally have a different spring rate than your stock ones...this changes how your spring will compress and will normally put more stress on your shocks...

although eibach's are supposedly made to be fine with stock shocks...it's not something i would totally depend upon...but that's just me
