Wonky Factory Alarm?

Hey all, I have a '97xle V6 bought couple months ago from a used dealer. It didnt come with the factory electronic key fob, but has the factory alarm.

Periodically the factory alarm goes off for no apparent reason.
Car is unlocked just sitting there - goes off
Car is unlocked, open trunk, a minute later - goes off

It has never gone off while enabled (doors locked).

Brought it to the dealer, as far as they're concerned, it works fine.

Anyone have insight to this?

Can I disable the alarm? The owners manual is no help.

Thanks for any help...

Gene.

You could unplug the horn fuse. That would be one solution, but wouldnt help you too much when you are in a emergency road situation.

Look in the manual see if you can find a fuse for the security system.
