I've been looking at what kind of tail lights there are for us Gen3 owners and I've found these tails on eBay, which I'm sure a lot of you have seen before. It's pretty obvious that they are stock tails, but I think this person who's selling them just opened up the tail lights and spray painted the inside. Does anybody have any ideas on how to Do It Yourself? How would you open up the tail lights? What types of paints would you use? Here's a similiar DIY that I got from Twincannon26 at CarDomain.com for clearing out the center trunk piece: "
i made it, using the stock piece. its kinda of a pain, but what you have to do is use a heat gun to melt the glue where the top piece(clear plastic) and the bottom piece(black) are glued together. i used a screw driver to pry them apart. its a slow process, if you move too quick you'll crack it. i then took the red piece out, painted it silver, and then put it all back together, with some new silicon sealant. i spent several hours on it, but to this day i've never seen another one. good luck"
Do you think this process would work for tail lights? Here's a pic of Twin's final product:

Another alternative would be to paint the entire tail lights red from the outside. Anybody have ideas on this process.
