3s-gte camry time is near!

OK guys I have a shop near my house that can get me a jdm celica front end clip for about $2,300. I am going to get it soon and start with the swap. I will have everything from the car since it is a complete front clip but is their going to be anything else I will need to drop it into my 87 camry 5 speed? I know the celica is an all wheel drive so what should I do about that? Any advise and info about parts I will need will be GREATLY appreciated. Soon I will be king!

1. Covert the Camry to AWD.

2. Look for a MR2 Turbo clip instead of a Celica clip.

3. Use the motor from the Celica clip and get a tranny from MR2 Turbo.

4. Use the motor from the Celica clip and get a tranny from a Celica GT-S (3S-GE).

Damn, I've been searching and I kinda figured that out but then I thought that with the celica even the axles would fit so I wouldn't have to look for other parts. I would buy the engine by itself but I need the clip for the ecu andf wiring. Hmmmm, this is going to take lots of donor parts. I have to find a gt-s for the tranny and a mr2 for the engine, ecu, and wiring. Would that work? Which tranny is better, the mr2 one with the different case so it will fit or the gt-s one? Are they just the same with different bellhousings?

Yes, but don't forget about the sensors and ignition stuff.

Best bet is to find a MR2 Turbo clip.

You can use the tranny from the MR2 Turbo, but if I remember correctly you have to swap the housing for one from a Celica GT-S cos the shift linkage is on the wrong side.

I wonder if a E153 tranny from a Solara would bolt up to a 3S-GTE.

I believe that the gear ratios are different. Other then that I dunno.

Wraith would know for sure. Hes the man when it comes to info about 3S-GTE's.

Instead of using a E153 trans from a MR2 Turbo use the Solara one or even one from a V6 Camry. It will bolt up. Only thing is you would need cables from either Solara , Celica GTS or Camry V6 ... I found out I'm using 20valve cables thats why my throws are sooo much more shorter than the Solaras...
