n00b, got a few questions

I pretty much inherited my mom's 2000 Camry LE V6 auto, and I had a few questions about it. I'm getting my license soon(been driving the Camry around on my permit with my dad in the car), and I'm a newbie to car upgrading, troubleshooting, etc(well, at least real cars...). First off, I was wondering, what relatively inexpensive (or biggest bang for buck) mods can I do to my Camry(that maybe the dealer would be able to install? like I said, I'm new to this stuff...) that will still be legal in California(not sure of all of the regulations, I know exhaust stuff is pretty strict though)? The car is in really good condition, as far as I can tell, and only has 13,500 miles in the 3 years we've owned the car. Also, I've noticed that when I'm at higher speeds(55-65mph), and am braking, the steering wheel vibrates, increasing in intensity as I brake harder, and am going faster. What kind of problem might this indicate? Thanks!

The rotors might be warped. To remedy this find a reputable shop and take the rotors to get turned.

if not rotors

since refinishing rotors can be expensive, first try gettin yhour wheels balanced. If that doesnt work, then try the rotors

exhaust and intake mods is always a good place to start.

i don't know the price of these mods in the US, but I got my stainless 2.25" cat back with my choice of muffler for $550AUD, which is probably about $300 or so USD.

a replcement k&n high flow pannal filter set me back about $144AUD with the cleaning kit.

the dealer can fit anything you want, but once its done, anything that goes wrong with your car and its traced back to your mod(s) the warrantee is void.

straight off, are you after right out power??? if so, supercharge it, replace the 4psi pulley with a 7psi one.

or find an old turbo from a 2jzgte supra engine and set it to 8psi boost with a manual boost controler. any turbo specialist will help you make a custom turbo manufold for it.

Bring it over to my house and try to diagnose it here in San Francisco! I'm with the others on the warped rotors, and add supercharger.

lol every 2 weeks we get one of these, another hand down camry , but dont go to the dealer to install, they charge about 2 to 3 times what it's worth, and yea it voids the gurantee depending on what you do, also what is relatively inexpensive, because to me nothing is, hehe, everything is money but you could do the usual exhaust and intake, or either work on your suspension for better handling, or look cool, wheels and kit, or make it complete sleeper and put a snail in there

Warped rotors.

And having rotors turned / resurfaced is not expensive. $8 - $10 per rotor.
