sup everyone...

i installed my Initial K indiglo gauges last weekend. before i started, i looked around the internet and referred to some other websites that had some step-by-step instructions. i found there were some areas that were a little vague so i put together my own little guide to the installation.

i know most of you already have these installed ~ and had no prob doing so. but i thought maybe i could help someone else out that might be hesistant on doing it themselves.

Oh man... THANK YOU! I must say that was one of the most detailed walkthroughs for anything ive ever seen. I see you got the MPH version, yeah, I had a lot of trouble looking for KPH Indiglo gauges so I gave up.

Where did you get your gauges?

latez.

glad to know that i was able to help a lil bit.

i don't think that Initial K made any metric versions of their indiglos. there is KPH on the smaller inner circle of the gauges but it's not that accurate. if it shows that you're going 100KPH you're acutally only going 97KPH.

or maybe it's just my set that does that

btw: i got them off of eBay for $35 US.

WOW VERY NICE job RayRay! I might just have to get your permission to use that on the FAW section of my new site! I was planning on taking pics and making an album with directions just like that anyway!

Nice job again!

My set from Initial K or moneyzipper or whatever place I got it from, is in KM/H just as many other of the guys from the club.

thanks for the props speedemn...

i'm planning to make a personal website of my own soon (whenever i get off my lazy ass) but in the meantime i have all my pics of my installs on Imagestation. you can go ahead and use the link to my album if you like.

since i ordered my indiglos off of eBay they just sent me the MPH versions. i guess i should've indicated that i needed the KPH ones. but as you know... Initial K and their dealers aren't much on communication and customer service .

do you find that the markings are accurate?

HAHA I was just as lazy as you were. But one day I decided to procrastinate on the 5 assignments that I have due in a week and I went ahead and put some ideas on HTML and then voila, one thing led to another and I had a rough site up as I do now! It is so addictive!

Yes the markings are accurate... I did compare. However a friend of a friend was helping me stick the gauges and we had the strong 3M two-sided tape behind it. I was holding one end (the left side of the speedo) and he was holding the other end (the right side of the speedo where the 160km/h - 220kmh/ are marked) and I put my side right over top of the original markings and butterfingers let his end slip and it stuck on about 10 degrees crooked on his end. It was already too late to peel it off.

So in that respect my speedo is off by a bit when I go 160 km/h and up but accurate for anything lower. I don't even know if I can get a mistake like that recalibrated. Oh well, I just try not to think about it cuz it pisses me off.

you can still take them off. just use some adhesive remover or even WD40 works alright. buhleeve me... i've had to take my speedo one off once already to apply more tape and even glue to keep it down.

Naw man I don't want to take them off. We made sure that we had enough tape that it will NEVER bubble or ever come off! Its been a while and its still suck on there real strong! I don't want to mess that up by taking it off and putting it back. It will never be the same then.

hey rayray!

thanks man. that really does help me understanding how to install it. ok i'm kinda confused about the wiring part. so you only connect the grey wire from the controller to the main power supplie for the gauges? cus that's all you showed. and what about those white wires that come with the new indiglo gauges? or do they just used to connect the speedo, tach, etc? well thanks a lot!

I believe you need to splice into the green wire which is your parking lights so the gauges will only turn on when you turn your headlights on.

The wires that come with the gauges are just for the speedo,tach,etc... power source. Just plug them into the controller.

dammit, i messed up a little when i put mine in. haha. nothin serious really. broke my gas guage but my light still works so i'll know when i need gas. my speedo sticks a little but still moves. uuuuuuum what else. oh yea i took the power source from the factory dimmer so now the guages light up but none of the other lights on the dash. so now only guages and the radio light up. it doesn't look that bad truthfully just a lot darker and i can't see where anything is. but i'll go back to fix it but that was the only place i could find the power source that worked. where else is the green wire for the parking lights.

That happened to some of us too. It takes 10 seconds to reset it and a Toyota mechanic SHOULD be able to do it for you without charging you anything.

But the challenge is finding one that will not charge you. Good luck. We have one here in Toronto.

As for the green wire, look in rayray's indiglo installation instructions on my website in the FAQ section: http://members.rogers.com/anish.ghosh Look at picture #50 and #51.

lol... yea... i did that at first too. you must have wired up to the top wire which is the dimmer wire. if the dimmer switch is at max your instrument lights will be bright but no indiglo. when you turn the dimmer down you got hella bright indiglos but no instuments lights. i drove like that for awhile but found myself fishing for the vent controls at night.

you need to splice it into the wire below that dimmer wire - that's the headlight wire. i believe it's the green wire like speedemn said.

did you remove the brake light indicator bulb? then the airbag light will come on as well. instead of getting it reset i just removed the airbag bulb too. problem solved.
