4 Gen and 4.5 Gen Camry Radios

Has anybody noticed that the radios in the 4.5 Gens seems to crappier than the ones in the 4 Gens.

Overall I liked the appearance, functionality, sound quality, power and performance in the 3 in 1 Radios w/ premuim sound package that was offered in the 97-99 than the 00-01.

In the 98 I had, kept the stock head unit speakers and everything, only added an amp, several capictors, and 2 10's in a custom box. I never had the radio short out or cutoff at all even when I had it to the max.

Now the 01 same set-up and everthing, the only difference is I'm using the stock head unit, speakers, tweeters that came with the 01.

I get shorts, cut-off and everthing.

Have anybody else noticed this with other Toyotas or if they have multiple Gens of the Camry?

Well, I know my 2001 Camry headunit has a problem.......the radio tunes in ok, but there is no sound....at all, and this only on FM.....AM works fine.

I tested out a Clarion radio and the FM worked fine.....so it's not the antenna.

You should get an aftermarket changer and an adapter. I have a Sony MP3/CD changer that's 100% controlled by my stock headunit.

The way i see it...when the warranty expires...thats the time to go aftermarket...till then...let them pay for it....cus if i go aftermarket and it breaks..its all on my head!
