Inner Door Panel

I'm stumpped. I'm trying to get the inner door panel off of the door so that I can get inside and hook up the power mirror cable to the new mirror. I've taken out all of the screws and plugs, but the only thing that is keeping the door panel on is the inside door latch and lock. I've looked around it, but cannot find any more plugs to pop out, nor are there any more screws. I'm trying to do this without breaking anything, but I've got to find some way of getting behind the panel and into the plastic watershield to reach the cable. if anyone has any ideas, let me know
P.S. There was a screw inside the latch, but even after it's been removed, the latch and lock part will not budge.
Pete

If I remember correctly, you have to pull on it the same way you would as if you were opening the door and slide the backing foward (towards the front of the car). After you get that off you have to pull the door panel up to get it off the clips on the bottom of the panel.

I had to pry the handle cover over a small bump on the top and bottom of the door. I finally got it, but I was just getting frustrated, so I thought I'd see if anyone on here knew what I was talking about

All you did was pry it off? Nothing broke at all?

don't know if the Gen4's are like my Gen3 but check out my front speaker installation. it should be fairly similar to get the door panel off.

rayray you really make passing that wire through the gromet look way too easy. I lost count how many hours I spent trying to do that and I just gave up... tomorrow is another day.

you can actually make it easier by cutting the rubber boot that runs inbetween the door and the jam. that way you can work the wire through in 2 steps instead of one difficult step. then just tape up the boot after.

Thats exactly what I was planning on doing, trying to do it all in one step is insanity, now I just have to wait for the weather to cooperate. btw, what was toyota thinking when they made it so you need to take apart the whole door just to replace a speaker?

you have a great site by the way
