I have this strange smell that comes out every time I turn on the A/C. The smell last for a few mins then is gone(kinda) I have tried everything I can think of to "freshen" up the interior, but I have determined it is not the carpet, but the A/C. Anone know what I can do?? Any ideas???
everytime u finish using the a/c, u should turn the fan on full blast for a few minutes to dry up the water. if u havnt been doing that, i think fungus or something starts to grow, thats what makes that stink.

is everyone supposed to do this? who sits in their car with the fan on full blast waiting for their a/c to dry up?
What year is the car? Does it have a cabin filter? Replace it. Otherwise, try spraying some Lysol into the air vents located at the bottom of the windshield on the outside of the car.
Directions;
-switch vent setting from re-circulate to outside air
-turn on fan to max
-spray Lysol in vents from outside
-repeat each day until smell is gone
Well after an afternoon of surfing the Net I have found that this is a pretty common problem with alot of the later models. This seems to be a problem for cars, SUVs, and Mini Vans. I am going to drop the car off to the stealer and see what they can do. I have read several stories (on the Net) about evaporators being replaced several times with no fix. This don't sound too good.
