Why cant i redline

i got a 98 camry v6 with auto tranny... the redline is at 6250... but when i floor it, it only goes to almost 6000... is that normal? i havent really paid attention to if the rpm goes to redline until right now. thanks for the help

why do you wanna redline it???

you won't get many more power or torque out of the car.

if you wanna try, shift into 1st gear and then floor it.

but its not good for the car.

i can tell you its normal, the fuel cut off is around that rev range so there is no point.

The tach is slower then the speed of the engine.

In other words you'll hit the rev limiter before the tach says you did.
