Camry Remote Start & Alarm

I just picked up my '08 Camry V6 today

My vehicle does not come with remote start (which I want) or alarm (which I need). The sales guy told me to go to circuit city over having the dealership install, but my online research is showing that places other than Toyota 1) cannot integrate the alarms they carry with the key (it's toyota specific) and 2) have a hard time getting the products to install without wiring issues.

Has anyone had any good experience with a non-toyota system being installed and if so, what brand and who sold/installed it? Finally, were you able to 'toss' the key fob that came with it and use just the ignition key to control it? Thanks!

(ps - I admit never thought I'd go with a foreign car but 2 test drives later and I think I've been won over for life - I know I made the right choice)

Congrats on the new car! For the alarm you can go with the well known brands of DEI, such as Viper, Clifford, or Python. They're all pretty much the same. Your car has a knee airbag, so Circuit City will not work on it due to company policy. Best buy might do it, but I would call and check before you purchase anything from them. You might want to look into smaller shops first, but ask around to see what's reputable in your area. With the DEI stuff you can also integrate your factory remote features, such as trunk release, onto the alarm fob by installing a relay. Search in the Gen 6 section too because i think someone was able to retain the factory key fob with an aftermarket alarm.
