Unhappy obd-II code question

The problem I'm having with my wife's '01 4cyl LE is the "check engine light" came on. So, I got out the code reader and it shows EVAP emission system problems (p0440, 441, 442) I looked around the car, the gas cap is missing. I purchased a new cap, erased the codes, ran 1 1/2 tanks of gas through it. Now, the light is back on with the same codes. Any ideas of what this may be caused from? I hate to take it tho the "stealership", but the emissions nazi's don't care for the light in GA.

So do you think the the new gas cap is bad, or is there a leak somewhere else?
